Massage Services:

The purpose of the practice of massage is to enhance the general health and well-
being of the recipient. Massage does not include the diagnosis of a specific pathology,
the prescription of drugs or controlled substances, spinal manipulation or those acts of
physical therapy that are outside the scope of massage therapy.

Relax, De-stress and Energize with Swedish Massage:

Swedish Massage is the most common type of massage and is what most people think
of when they hear the word “massage."  A smooth, flowing style is used that promotes
relaxation, improves circulation and range of movement and relieves muscular
tension.  Although the goal is relaxation, we can spend more time on any problem
areas you may have, soothing away tension and muscle aches and pains.

Prenatal Massage:

Also called “pregnancy massage”, prenatal massage is used to reduce stress, relieve
aches and pains, increase circulation and help reduce swelling.  If you are in your
second or third trimester, the majority of the massage will be performed in a side-lying
position.  You will be securely draped and pillows are strategically placed for your
comfort. This type of massage is performed by a certified prenatal massage therapist.
This certification ensures that you get the best care possible and receive the maximum
benefit from your massage.  Prenatal massage is only used for low-risk pregnancies.
Please make sure you check with your doctor prior to your first prenatal massage.
Prenatal massages are customized to each woman’s individual needs.

Deep Tissue Massage:

Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It
is frequently used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural
problems, or recovery from injury.  Deep tissue massage is often integrated with other
massage techniques to best benefit the client.  It is normal to feel sore for a couple of
days following a deep tissue massage.  This type of massage is especially helpful for
clients with chronically tight muscles in the neck, shoulders and back.

Therapeutic/Treatment Massage:

Although therapeutic massage may retain many of the same elements of relaxation
massage, advanced techniques are also used for pain management and chronic
health issues.  Conditions that we have worked on include:
•        Fibromyalgia
•        Carpal Tunnel
•        Chronic neck, shoulder and back pain
•        Parkinson’s Disease
•        Plantar fasciitis
•        Migraines/headaches
•        Lateral/medial epicondylitis (tennis/golfer’s elbow)
•        Ehlers Danlos syndrome

It may be best to check with your doctor before coming in for your first massage.  We
are happy to work in conjunction with your current treatment guidelines and are open
to recommendations made by your doctor as to what techniques might best help your
individual condition.

Sports Massage: Not just for athletes anymore!

Sports massage is appropriate for anyone involved in physical activity.  The focus is
on preventing and treating injury, keeping the body flexible and enhancing
performance.  There are three types of sports massage as it relates to athletes:  Pre-
event massage (increases circulation and warms up the muscles), post-event massage
(decreases recovery time) and treatment of injuries (improves quality of healing).
Please call to discuss your individual needs prior to scheduling your massage.  It is
generally recommended that you not schedule your first massage as a pre-event
massage.  Until we know how your body reacts to massage, you should allow several
days between your first massage and participation in an athletic event.  A variety of
techniques are used according to the needs of the client and the activity in which they
are involved.

Chair Massage:

This technique involves the use of a specially designed massage chair in which the
client sits comfortably and remains fully clothed.  Typically, chair massage focuses on
the back, neck, shoulders and arms.  Visit our
Corporate Chair Massage page for
more details and pricing information.

Reflexology:  It's not just a foot massage!

Reflexology, or “zone therapy”, is the ancient art of stimulating the nerve endings in
the feet & hands (and even the ears) to help balance the body, mind, and spirit.  It is
relaxing for all forms of physical, mental and emotional stress.  Reflexology is primarily
used on the feet and is based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet
that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body.  Using special techniques,
the practitioner stimulates these reflexes to promote healing and relaxation

Reiki Healing – Usui and Karuna Systems

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes
healing. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit
creating many beneficial effects.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner, trained to access and serve as a channel for
the life force energy (ki or chi), places her hands on or just above the client’s body in
order to activate healing energy within receptive points on the body. The practitioner’s
hands move progressively with a passive touch through different positions on the
body.  The focus is on returning the body to a state of physical, mental, and spiritual
balance.  Reiki may be combined with massage and is also used in chakra balancing
and healing attunements. Robin Albright is a Reiki Master/Teacher in both the Usui
System and Karuna Reiki. Reiki training classes are also available.  Contact Robin at
